A Welcoming Congregation

Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church was given approval on March 21, 2007 to be officially recognized as a Welcoming Congregation by the Unitarian Universalist Association.  This is a designation given to congregations that have made a commitment to becoming educated about gay/lebian/bisexual/transgender people and issues in order to make these people feel welcome in our congregations.  While AUUC has a proud history of being a champion of GLBT issues and a safe and supportive place for people in this community, we are happy to have this opportunity to do more work in this area and receive official recognition for our accomplishments.

You may read our welcoming congregation submission (MSWord doc file), which was approved by a unanimous vote of the congregation at the 2007 Winter Congregational Meeting.

For more information on the Welcoming Congregations program, visit the UUA's Office of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender Concerns.
