Small Groups at AUUC
As we continue to grow, it is important to provide opportunities for people to connect with each other in relaxed, intimate, small group settings to allow close interpersonal relationships to be forged. In addition, we need to give people an opportunity to give back to the church and to the wider community in the form of service projects. To fulfill both these needs of community building and service, starting in 2007, members of the congregation worked together to create what came to be called “Small Groups” at AUUC. Each Small Group has about six to twelve members who gather regularly and discuss topics of mutual concern. In addition, each group commits to work on service projects for church and community. All groups are open to new members; if they grow too large, new groups will be birthed from the existing ones. Two Small Groups currently meet. The "Theologies" group meets every three weeks on Sunday evenings, and "What's it all about, my friend?" meets twice a month on Saturday mornings. Other groups will be formed from time-to-time as people’s interests and schedules allow. To learn more about the Small Groups at Allegheny or to start a new group, please contact the Church Office. To join the "Theologies" group, talk to Jane Dirks or Mark Tomlinson. To join "What's it all about, my friend?" contact Pete McQuillin, Fran Quinlan or Cathy Serventi (darthduckie <at> gmail <dot> com).
