Religious Education Meet our Minister Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church

Pride Day Events at Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church Our annual Pride Day Breakfast, Service, and March festivities take place every Pride Sunday, which in Pittsburgh is the second Sunday in June. After a light pre-service breakfast at 8:30AM we offer our dynamic worship service at a special time of 9:30AM led by our own Rev. Dave, the first openly gay ordained man called to a Pittsburgh pulpit (and with 100% of the vote!). Join our celebration of the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, credited with igniting the modern LGBT Liberation Movement. Immediately following the worship service we provide bus transportation from our North Side church to the downtown march. Pittsburgh area Unitarian Universalists (UU's) from several congregations march together in blue "Pittsburgh Area Unitarian Universalist" or in bright yellow "Standing on the Side of Love" t-shirts in support of the local LGBT community. The bus will make two return trips to the church after the march. Since 1906 Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church has stood for liberal religion, social advocacy, and spiritual growth on Pittsburgh's North Side, and for its embrace of bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender people we have been recognized as a Welcoming Congregation by the Unitarian Universalist Association. Unitarian Universalism (UU) is a caring, open-minded religion that encourages seeking your own spiritual path and draws on many religious traditions, welcoming people with different beliefs. Unitarian Universalists are united by shared values, not by creed or dogma, and UU congregations are places where people gather to nurture their spirits and put their faith into action by helping to make our communities — and the world — a better place. One of the seven Unitarian Universalist principles affirms the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and the religion has a proud record of affirmation and advocacy in support of LGBT people.
