Racial and Social Justice Ministry
In 2007, the Social Justice Ministry decided at an open meeting that in order to really make things happen in our community, the church should have one social justice focus, and that that focus will be Racial Justice. The ministry chose this focus because racism is such an integral part of other social justice issues, and felt that this is the area where we can make the most impact in our community. The Social Justice Ministry was responsible for facilitating communication about race-related issues to our community and our church. The Ministry also organized racial justice-themed Sunday worship services and occasional "Racial Justice Community Moments" where a member or guest speaks about how racism affects their lives. Other social justice groups at AUUC are encouraged to focus on racial justice within their group's area of interest. Activities Allegheny UU on Racial Justice:
