May 4

10:30 am - Organizing for Economic Justice - Speaker: Barney Oursler

Barney Oursler has worked for years in Pittsburgh with the Mon Valley Unemployed Committee to help communities fight for economic justice in the face of mill closings and economic displacement. He is currently help Northside United in their efforts to gain Community Benefits Agreements with North Shore developers.He will speak about why he has stayed with this work since the early '80s.

12:00 noon - Annual Congregational Meeting

Today's service will be followed by our Annual Congregational Meeting marking the end of Centennial Year. This Sunday will also mark the start of our Thanksgiving in Spring food drive.


May 11

9:30 AM - Communion Service

This half-hour service celebrates and strengthens our commitment to justice. Traditional symbols are used, but all will feel welcome regardless of belief.

10:30 am - Mother's Day / Earth Day- Speaker: Angele Ellis and Liane Norman

Liane and Angele are longtime writers and community activists who turned to poetry to express, in Liane's words, "things...that can't be said in prose/at least not yet." In this service, they will alternate their poetic voices to explore connections between mothers and Mother Earth.

10:30 am - One Vision One Life - Speaker: El Gray

El Gray will discuss his personal journey and the work of One Vision One Life (1V1L), where he is program director, at preventing violence in our streets and neighborhoods.
