The Down Under Coffeehouse is open monthly on the third Saturday of the month (more or less), Sept through May.  We are located in the newly renovated basement of the Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church on the corner of North Ave and Resaca Place, in Pittsburgh's historic North Side in the Mexican War Street neighborhood, near the National Aviary. Suggested donation is $5.  

2003-2004 Performances:

Sept 20, 2003 7:30-9:30pm New Morning.  The talented folk trio, featuring Betsy Gerson, Tim Reiser, and John DiLeonardo, are well-known for their tight vocal harmonies and well-crafted original songs.
Oct 18, 2003 7:30-9:30pm Brad Yoder.  Brad has been accurately described as one of the area's more interesting and prolific songwriters.  
Nov 15, 2003 7:30-9:30pm Monongahela Sheiks.  Pittsburgh's premier jug band returns to the coffeehouse.  Come and listen to the acoustic blues, ragtime, and popular American music from the Early 1920s, '30s and '40s
Dec 20, 2003 7:30-9:30pm Shannon Mier and Jack Erdie. Enjoy an wonderful winter's evening of singer-songwriters.
Jan 24, 2004 7:30-9:30pm We welcome back the First Unitarian Folk Orchestra on this special night.
Feb 21, 2004 7:30-9:30pm Tom Roberts, Jazz Piano. Tom is regarded by many as one of the finest pianists today in the exciting Harlem stride piano style. He toured with Leon Redbone for six years, has recorded over 20 CDs and has performed throughout the United States and Europe.
Mar  2004   Coffeehouse is on hiatus this month.  Instead, attend the  Pittsburgh Interfaith Impact Network's first Annual Fund-Raising Banquet, to be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, in the Omni William Penn Hotel downtown featuring Carol Moseley Braun as the keynote speaker.
Apr 3, 2004 6:30-9:30pm The annual AUUC Talent Show and Spaghetti Dinner. An evening not to be missed!
Apr 17, 2004 7:30-9:30pm Eve Goodman and friends.  Smart acoustic country/folk music. Come hear what Nashville is missing!
May 22, 2004 7:30-9:30pm Armor & Sturtevant!!  A special evening with the dynamic UU duo, Kelly Armor and Dave Sturtevant, fresh from their appearance on the most recent Car Talk compilation CD.  They interpret folk music from East Africa, Appalachia, and the British Isles and write songs inspired and influenced by various folk traditions, classical music, bluegrass, rock and roll, and jazz. Their collaborative work utilizes a plethora of instruments including voice, guitar, flute, banjo, accordion, fiddle, concertina, mandolin, bass flute, piano, kalimba, and East African hand percussion.  Advanced tickets for $8 will be on sale for this special concert.
