UUs And Yom Kippur Rev. Dave Lutz
UUs affirm and appreciate other religious traditions, including Jewish traditions, and so today we
remember this very important Jewish holy day. But this is a day about confession of and atonement
for sin – not usual UU themes. Are these themes at odds with our faith, or is there a message
in them for us as well?

Introduction To Yoga 10:00 AM Leader: Anu Kumar
Anu will lead a beginner yoga class at in Founders Hall preceding the Worship Service. All levels
will feel welcome.
Yoga As A Spiritual Practice 11:00 AM Anu Kumar
Anu Kuma , a native of India, is a scholar of comparative religions with a focus on the goddess tradition.
She began practicing yoga at age five under the tutelage of her grandfather and has been a
teacher of yoga and meditation in Pittsburgh for fourteen years. Anu will share how yoga and
meditation as a spiritual practice puts one in touch with the unity of all traditions and cultures.

Inspiration To Service Khadra Mohammed
Described as “a rock for refugees,” Khadra Mohammed has looked after dozens of refugee families
as they acculturate into the Pittsburgh area. As director of Family Resources in East Liberty she
runs the international outreach program there and assists families from Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan,
Sudan, The Congo and elsewhere as they deal with both the emotional trauma in their lives and
difficulties of navigating in a new and strange land. Khadra will reflect on the role of her religious
life in her work.
