Jesse Landis-Eigsti

Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church

Jesse Landis-Eigsti is happy to be leading music at a Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church, where community, diversity, and the arts are celebrated. Jesse believes that music should nurture the spirit as well as the ears and hopes to create music from a variety of traditions with the congregation. He believes there are times and places for serious music, somber music, improvised music, rehearsed music, instrumental and choral music, rich and minimalistic music and everything in between. He is thrilled to have a community of collaborators, for he believes that music is best created with others.

Jesse is a pianist, song-writer, composer, singer and conductor. He graduated from Goshen College in 2009 with a B.A. in Music (Composition Concentration) after completing his senior recital, which consisted of fifty minutes of original music.

During his time at Goshen College, Jesse was involved in Men’s Choir, Chorale, and Chamber Choir, as well as conducting, song-leading and world music classes. He formed his second band while there (“Happy Camper & the Bees”), with whom he continues to make music, albeit currently long-distance. He also composed the words and music to an original opera, I Fratelli Mario, which debuted in the Umble Center Theater in April 2009.

Since moving to Pittsburgh in August 2010, Jesse has provided piano accompaniment not only Allegheny Unitarian Allegheny Church, but First United Methodist Church’s weekly Worship Jam and to the Pittsburgh Interplay Wing and a Prayer Players. He has also been involved in composing and arranging projects for Teachers’ Professional Resources and the video games Cave Monsters and the Legend of Ledge.

Jesse became Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church’s Director of Worship Music in September 2011. He is excited to continue working with the choir, instrumentalists, congregation, and Worship Team, as they create meaningful worship services and build community.
